Commercial Advisory

Legal advice that helps your business grow and protects what you've built.

Overview

Running a business means making decisions with legal consequences every day. We help owners and managers get the foundations right and handle issues as they come up, so they can focus on running the business.

We act for sole traders, partnerships, family businesses and companies, from start-up through to sale.

How we can help

  • Choosing and setting up a business structure (company, trust or partnership)
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts, terms of trade and supplier agreements
  • Buying or selling a business, including due diligence
  • Shareholder, partnership and joint venture agreements
  • Commercial and retail leases
  • Ongoing commercial advice as issues arise

Common questions

Do I need a shareholders agreement?

If a company has more than one owner, a shareholders agreement sets out how decisions are made, what happens if someone wants to leave, and how disputes are resolved. It is much easier to agree on these things at the start than in the middle of a disagreement.

Can you review a contract someone has sent me?

Yes. We can review it before you sign, explain the key risks in plain English, and suggest changes to negotiate.
